Shine On: Madeon lifts us up into springtime with anthemic electro-pop anthem ‘Home’

After a monumentally shitty two months of winter and a million inches of near-record snowfall, yesterday was the first day around Boston that felt like spring. Harringtons were busted out, car sunroofs were opened, and motherfucking cartwheels were busted out on the sidewalks among the ruinous snowbanks.

All we needed was an anthem.

Turns out it was right there waiting for us in Madeon’s glorious new electro-pop jam “Home.” We got our first taste of the French producer’s new LP Adventure when he hooked up with Michael Angelakos of Passion Pit on the record’s first neon single, “Pay No Mind,” but here Madeon takes center stage and vocal reins. “Home” is the sound of 10 a.m. on a weekend morning in June, its synth line sunrays breaking through the bass clouds and enveloping us in hope.

Adventure, out March 31 via Columbia Records, is shaping up to be one hell of a summer soundtrack. Now all we have to do is catch up, and hopefully we’re aligned when Madeon plays Boston’s House of Blues on April 26.
