There are a million billion bands that “killed it” and/or “crushed it” last month at SXSW, but it’s always nice to see one of Austin’s own breaking out and getting noticed by the tourists. Garage-blues duo the Ghost Wolves used that home-field to their advantage, and are now setting off on a North American tour that hits Atwood’s Tavern in Cambridge on April 22.
The Ghost Wolves are made up of Carley “Carazy” Wolf on guitar and vocals and Jonathan “Little Hammer” Wolf on drums & vocals, and play the exact kind of scuzzy afternoon rock that us here in New England desperately need on a spring evening. They’re also doing up a pair of gigs at the Press Room in Portsmouth (according to their tour itinerary below), so they’re spreading the love around the area.
The duo have an album out now called Man, Woman, Beast via Plowboy Records, and you can fire up your morning with last year’s “Attack Attack Attack” down below.
And that “voodoo punk” rage up in the headline is from Rolling Stone Italia, which wrote: “They play stomping blues – punk possessed by who knows what kind of demon…their music has just the right overdose of voodoo punk…”
