Report: Twin Shadow involved in serious tour bus accident in Colorado, 12 people hospitalized

New York electronic act Twin Shadow was involved in a serious tour van accident this morning in Colorado.

Police describe the scene as “a multi-vehicle accident with multiple injuries,” though no one in Twin Shadow were harmed, including frontman and songwriter George Lewis Jr., a former Boston resident. A second bus, carrying crew members, suffered the brunt of the accident, and photos of the wreck can be seen down below.

According to reports, the accident happened in the Aurora area as the band’s tour buses were en route to a show this evening in Denver. Twin Shadow performed in Lawrence, Kansas, last night, and were set to play the Blue Bird Theater tonight. Brooklyn Vegan reports the show tonight has been cancelled.

Twelve people have been transported from the accident site to the hospital.

Here’s more information from the Denver Post, and reporter Jesse Aaron Paul has been updating the incident via Twitter:

Two tour buses for the indie-rock musician Twin Shadow crashed into two semi-tractor trailers in dense fog on a stretch of Interstate 70 early Friday, injuring a dozen people, authorities say.

I-70 has been shut down in both directions at E-470 in Aurora on because of the crash that left “multiple” people injured, authorities say. Colorado State Patrol said the victims’ injuries range from minor to serious.

Two buses, two tractor-trailers and a motor home were involved in the accident. Twelve people were taken to hospitals, one with serious injuries, according to CSP. Photos released from the scene show the front of one of the buses mangled behind the back of a Federal Express tractor-trailer.

State patrol Trooper Josh Lewis said the band had two tour buses, and one was more seriously damaged than the other. “The only people transported were from the crew bus,” Lewis said.

The driver of the crew bus was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, Lewis said. Eleven others had moderate or minor injuries.
