Summer Fling: The 2015 Boston Fuzzstival announces dates, expands to three days

Last year the Newport Folk Festival down in Rhode Island sold out before any artists had been announced. It was a pretty impressive accomplishment, and one built on trust and respect from the audience. Everyone knew that Newport Folk would deliver.

We got similar vibes yesterday when the annual Boston Fuzzstival revealed its dates for 2015, and announced it would expand to three shows at the Middle East in Cambridge. No bands or artists were announced, but the Facebook event page already registered 400 RSVPs.

People are into it. They love the Fuzz.

“The goal of Boston Fuzzstival is to highlight the best bands in the region that make psychedelic/fuzz/garage/surf rock and to build bridges within the local music community,” says Fuzzstival curator Jason Trefts, of the Middle East and Illegally Blind Productions. “Boston Fuzzstival 2015 is a three-day event, with two shows at the Middle East Upstairs and the third show at the Middle East Downstairs. Stay tuned for the lineup and more info!”

The dates are Thursday, August 6 at the Middle East Upstairs; Friday, August 7 at the Middle East Upstairs; and Saturday, August 8 at the Middle East Downstairs.

Last year’s performers at the all-day, two-show Fuzzstival included Ghost Box Orchestra, the New Highway Hymnal, the Televibes, Doug Tuttle, Fat Creeps, CreaturoS, Black Beach, and others. While we await this year’s lineup, check the poster from Fuzz alums John Magnifico and Will Thomas from Boom Said Thunder.
