Magic America: Blur hit the states this week with late-night TV gig, free Friday show in Brooklyn

Reunited Britpop heavyweights Blur are back on our side of the Atlantic for the first time since 2013. With the release of new album The Magic Whip this week, Damon Albarn and company are performing live on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon on Thursday night, and then playing an exclusive Converse Rubber Tracks Live show Friday, May 1 at the Music Hall of Williamsburg in New York City.

Boston gets the Replacements, Passion Pit, Slayer and a dozen others. New York gets Blur. Judge that as you will.

Click here for the Converse event page. Tickets are available starting Wednesday, April 29, at noon. Here’s the fine print: “Ticketfast tickets will be emailed at 3 p.m. on the day of the show. Doors open at 5 p.m., show starts at 5:45 p.m. sharp. Please print out your tickets at home and arrive early. You must have a ticket to enter the venue and admission will be based on capacity.”

We think Blur’s last shows in New York were back in 2003, for Think Tank, when they played Bowery Ballroom in March and Hammerstein in July. The band played Coachella two years ago.

Blur recently appeared on UK show Later With Jools Holland, and you can watch that below while you wait for the ticket link to open.
