Learn To Swim: Tool tease new sounds and visuals from deep within the recording studio

This year has been full of surprises, good and bad, from Tool.

On April Fool’s Day a sudden leak of new music turned out to just be a prank, and on Record Store Day some U2 fans hoping to score a vinyl copy of Songs Of Innocence instead got the prog-metal band’s early ’90s EP Opiate.

This weekend, another tease went out, but this time from the band: Guitarist Adam Jones posted two intriguing things to Instagram: One short audio/visual clip of Jones playing “strange strings,” and a photo of 10,000 Days engineer Joe Barresi behind a mixing board with the caption *A little taste ~ Mixing a would be jam.

That first clip below could be the first of real, actual, legit, holyfuckyeah new music from Tool, whose last album came out in 2006.
