By George: Jason Alexander is to blame/thank for Taylor Swift’s success, the actor says

If it wasn’t for Jason Alexander, we may never have had Taylor Swift.

At least that’s according to the Seinfeld actor, who tells TMZ this week that he should be credited with discovering Tay Tay after he cast her in Brad Paisley’s 2007 video for “Online.” Alexander directed the video, which stars an underage Swift dancing on stage with the country star, flanked by fellow country singer Kellie Pickler.

“I put her in her first video,” Alexander says with a smirk after singing some Taylor Swift karaoke at a fundraiser at the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles. “It wasn’t her video, it was a Brad Paisley video… There are two young ladies on stage with him, one of them is Kellie Pickler, the other one? An underage Taylor Swift.”

When asked if he wanted credit for discovering perhaps the world’s biggest pop star, Alexander affirms: “It’s all me.”

Thanks, dude! This is bigger than discovering Cuban pitchers for the Yankees.

Swift’s debut album came out in 2006, when she was just 16, and all five singles were certified platinum by the RIAA. The LP has sold more than six million copies since.

But hey, we love a good gag, and hell, we looked up the video, and he’s right — there’s a fresh-faced Tay-Sway, on stage with Paisley… Check it:
