Vanyaland Premiere: Watch Dirty Bangs’ ode to the best of times in ‘I’m In Love With The Summertime’

This past Sunday night, Boston Calling did one of those things that makes the bi-annual music festival so awesome: It announced the line-up for its September edition live on stage just before the Pixies wrapped up the May session, giving fans who attended the festival the first-look at who will be soon coming to City Hall Plaza.

As the bands were listed off via the large video boards, the predicted cheers went up for the usual suspects — CHVRCHES, Hozier, alt-J, Avett Brothers, Walk The Moon, and so on.

But in the middle of the September lineup reveal came the two local bands picked to rep Boston. And while Dirty Bangs and Grey Season might not have elicited the loudest response from a crowd of 20,000 who might not know them just yet, they did create swells of pride among those in the audience who felt like one of their own were selected to tear it up in front of a hometown crowd.

Even better they were revealed right before the Pixies. Boston pride is a very real thing.

If that didn’t properly jump start the Summer of Dirty Bangs, the Boston rock band’s new video for “I’m In Love With The Summertime” certainly will.

Evan Kenney’s crew take the sensations of the greatest season and map it out in a New Englander’s dream, biking out across the region and ending in a trippy moon-lit party amongst friends far beyond the clutching grips of stressed-out city life.

Starring bad-ass, motorcycle-riding video vixen Jenna Antonangeli, the clip is a care-free weekend vacation and a proper glass raised to summer, and the best part is that we know they’ll be back this fall. Because Boston calls, as it usually does.
