A few months ago we cracked open a can of fuck yeah in announcing Awesome Day Fest, an annual DIY music festival held across multiple music venues and bars in Allston. “We thought peak awesome was finally reached [last year],” we wrote. “We were wrong.”
Since then, Awesome Day Fest has grown even larger, adding extra bands and stages to its initial lineup. So as it fast approaches with a kickoff party Friday night at O’Brien’s Pub and a full slate of shows on Saturday at the Model Cafe, Great Scott, Wonderbar, and O’Brien’s, we figured we were due for a proper update.
On tap this weekend are about two dozen bands and artists, a wrestling crew, a DJ or two, and a wide variety of sounds, from metal to electro-pop to singer-songwriters to Robby Roadsteamer. There are even two can’t miss indie rock reunions, as Codetta and Vic Firecracker return to the stage after several years away.
Truly something for everyone.
