Pop Galaxy: UK duo Hurts reach for the stars with bold new single ‘Some Kind Of Heaven’

There’s a bit of a sonic land grab for 2015’s official Song of the Summer.

We know Taylor Swift wants, we sense Class Actress has the inside track on it, and we assume there are a handful of pop and alt-pop bangers ready to blast out between now and Independence Day.

Enter Hurts.

The sharp-dressed Manchester electronic pop duo of Theo Hutchcraft and Adam Anderson today released new single “Some Kind Of Heaven,” and it’s a bold bit of musical ambition that toes the line between Top 40 and indie dance parties. It sounds particularly good on a nice spring day like today (at least here in Boston), and we’re agreeing with the Brandon Flowers vibes we’re feeling on the first few listens.

“‘Some Kind of Heaven’ marks the beginning of a bold Odyssey,” Hurts says, via the Line Of Best Fit, which dubbed the song as “massive.” The duo adds: “Get ready to trip the light fantastic.”

We are ready.

“Some Kind Of Heaven” is the title track to the LP follow-up to 2012’s Exile, and it’s out July 31 via Columbia. Just in time to properly christen the Song Of The Summer 2k15.
