‘Wrecking Ball’s little sister but uptempo’: Listen to a ‘new’ Miley Cyrus song, ‘Nightmare’

Our girl Miley Cyrus has been releasing new music lately, but its all been in the form of covers to support and raise awareness for her charitable Happy Hippie Foundation. However, yesterday, an alleged new Miley track surfaced online called “Nightmare” — and while it’s more a “previously unheard” track from a few years ago, it still counts as new to our ears.

It’s got a little bit of a pre-Bangerz electronic feel to it, and even dabbles in dubstep a bit. It sounds dated, but it’s an upbeat numbers that even has a bit of “Since U Been Gone” flavor to it.

When asked about the song last year on Twitter, Dr. Luke, who produced the track, billed it as “wrecking ball’s little sister but uptempo,” and that description works for us.

No word on whether it’ll get an official release; the dub step parts already sound quite dated, but a follow-to to Cyrus’ 2013 record Bangerz should be coming soon, and maybe with little warning. The album reportedly features collaborations with Wayne Coyne, Mike Will Made It, and recent Boston Calling performer iLoveMakonnen.
