X-Ray Speculation: Foo Fighters cancel two shows after Dave Grohl breaks leg on stage in Sweden

Five weeks before Foo Fighters are set to play two shows at Fenway Park, the rock band has canceled some European dates after Dave Grohl broke his leg last night on stage in Sweden.

The affected dates are June 14 at the Pinkpop Festival and June 16 at AFG Arena in St. Gallen, Switzerland. The band’s next scheduled appearance is a big one that probably won’t be nixed: June 19 at London’s iconic Wembley Stadium.

Of course, the band returns to the States in a few short weeks for a North American tour that hits Boston’s Fenway Park July 18 and 19.

Hopefully Grohl will need only a minor stint on the disabled list.

“As witnessed by tens of thousands in attendance at Foo Fighters’ June 12 show at Ullevi Stadium, Dave Grohl took a nasty spill during the second song of the set,” says a release from Nasty Little Man this afternoon. “With the help of on-site medical staff who patched him up temporarily, Dave was able to rejoin the band to complete that performance. While the full extent of Dave’s injuries are still being determined, it was confirmed at a post-show hospital visit that he sustained at least one fracture.”

As video of the incident started to circulate last night, the Foo Fighters posted an x-ray of Grohl’s injury — it looks pretty bad. Grohl eventually returned to the stage in Gothenburg, and finished the show after the rest of the Foos filled time as their metal covers act, Chevy Metal.

Watch Grohl’s triumphant return below — and we’ll keep you posted on any additional cancelations. At the very least, we’ll likely get a hobbled Grohl rocking in the most bad-ass cast imaginable out under the Green Monster next month.
