Rhythm Nation 2015: Janet Jackson returns with the slinky, slick r&b jam ‘No Sleeep’


Janet Jackson is back.

A few weeks after announcing a fall North American tour that (of course) skips New England, the pop star has released her first new song in several years, the slinky, slick r&b jam “No Sleeep.”

Meanwhile, Jackson will be honored at the BET Awards next Sunday, according to Page Six:

“Janet’s known for her dancing, so expect a lot of dancing,” said the source. This will be Jackson’s first major television appearance in three years. She last appeared on the BET Awards show in 2009 to pay homage to brother Michael three days after his death.

Fader notes that “No Sleeep” was written and produced by “Jackson’s legendary team Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis [and] is the first release on the queen of pop’s own new Rhythm Nation imprint in partnership with BMG.”
