Nickelback cancel remainder of No Fixed Address tour; Chad Kroeger to undergo vocal cord surgery

No more Nickelback… at least for the immediately future.

The much-maligned Canadian rock band has cancelled the remainder of their No Fixed Address tour across North America due to a medical emergency: Vocalist Chad Kroeger has been diagnosed with an operable cyst on his vocal cords and must undergo surgery.

The band just released the following statement via social media, with a video with other members of Nickelback addressing fans:

“We are saddened to announce that we are forced to cancel all remaining dates of the second leg of the 2015 No Fixed Address North American tour due to Chad being diagnosed with an operable cyst on his voice box requiring surgery. Ticket refunds will be available at the point of purchase.”

Doctors have ordered Kroeger take three weeks of rest after the procedure.

“I am sorry I have to interrupt the party this summer and I am definitely not thrilled with the prospect of being silent for many weeks to come when I could be out there playing for our fans,” says the singer/guitarist, via a press release. “I am relying on my doctor and his team to help get my voice back in good form as quickly as possible.”

On the New England front, the affected shows include a July 21 date at the Verizon Arena in Manchester, New Hampshire; August 15 at Mohegan Sun Casino in Connecticut; August 18 at the XFinity Center in Mansfield, Massachusetts; and August 19 at Darling’s Waterfront Pavilion in Bangor, Maine.

According to the band’s website, Nickelback’s tour is expected to pick back up September 30 in Helsinki, Finland, for the start of the European leg.
