Speedy Ortiz are everywhere these days. And soon they will be on a boat in Boston Harbor.
The Western Massachusetts rock band — named the finest musical group in our town in both Boston Magazine’s Best of Boston and the Improper’s Boston’s Best issues — will be hitting the water next month as they help close out the summer with their own August 30 Rock And Blues Cruise.
Tickets go on sale this Friday at noon.
The event is billed as “Speedy Ortiz & Friends” — so we can probably expect some excellent surprises and some bands from New England and beyond to collectively ring in the Sunday afternoon aboard the mighty Provincetown II. The ship boards near the World Trade Center Pier around noon, and we’re all certain to return to shore as new people. Labor Day weekend doesn’t stand a chance.
