Stage of Content: New Order return with airy new single titled ‘Restless’

The past few weeks have been littered with teases about New Order’s upcoming record Music Complete. We’ve gotten a series of song snippets, announcements of the track list, pre-order, and Peter Saville album design, and promises of big-ticket guests (Brandon Flowers of the Killers, La Roux’s Elly Jackson, and Iggy Pop on vocals; Chemical Brothers’ Tom Rowlands and Stuart Price and on production) adding a new polish to the legendary Manchester band’s sound.

That sound, of course, is one without founding bassist Peter Hook, who after a message divorce with the group has gone on to form a new band celebrating the New Order and Joy Division legacy. So what most folks really want to know is: What will this new New Order sound like without Sir Hooky?

Now we know.

This morning New Order released Music Complete’s first single, an airy tune called “Restless.” How this will help shape Music Complete, out September 25 on Mute Records and the group’s first bit of new material in a decade, is still unknown.
