V:Music First Listen: Wolkoff, ‘Too Quiet’

Earlier this summer we were temporarily hypnotized by “Curve Appeal”, a slinky new electronic-minded seducer from alt-pop newcomer Wolkoff. Now, the Toronto/Paris/Brooklyn-based performer has dropped the bedroom eyes for a full on dance-floor scorcher in “Too Quiet”. The track is an echo-chamber banger in the same style as the best of Kate Boy and Fever Ray, but instead of the walls caving in, it’s a blissful disco sound of life blossoming from all sides. Wolkoff’s upcoming EP, The Talismans, out August 28, is a collaboration with rising Colorado-born producer Icarus Moth, who adds a slick sheen to Wolkoff’s sweet vocal ache. It’s a shame indie dance nights don’t really exist anymore, as this would slay next to those old Cut Copy and Neon Indian remixes.
