Photo Gallery: First look inside Thunder Road, Somerville’s newest live music venue

Editor’s Note: With Thunder Road’s September 8 grand opening fast approaching, we figured it was time for a look inside Somerville’s newest rock club and restaurant space. This afternoon we were given a tour of the 280-capacity Union Square venue by co-owners Dan Millen and Charles Abel, getting a good look at the elevated stage, the sound booth, bar area, green room, and a few of the amenities, including USB ports at each bar space, exposed brick interior, and the venue’s downstairs lounge. In addition to live music, Thunder Road will also feature a full kitchen, with weekend brunch and blues jams on the calendar. In addition to the opening party — which also launches its Fat Tuesday “New Orleans Style Brass Band Night” series with The Party Band and Hadley & The Jackal — some of the other upcoming shows and events already on the calendar include Sierra Leone’s Refugee All Stars with The Brighton Beat on September 9; Vary Lumar and Telelectrix on September 12; and the weekly Thursday night ’90s dance party, 90210, with resident DJ Hey Now.
