Trendspotting: Watch the trailer for ’90s-era music industry satire film ‘Kill Your Friends’

Ahhh, Britpop, still so hot right now. Over the past two years we’ve gotten reunions, re-issues, and retrospectives — and now we’re getting a satire flick.

Kill Your Friends, based on John Niven’s cult novel of the same name, is a Britpop-era takedown film based on the money-hungry music industry of the beautiful ’90s, and this morning a teaser trailer dropped to remind us of the long-gone golden era of CDs, lad mags, and import singles. SkinsNicholas Hoult plays a mad-fer-it A&R exec in the movie, which also features Rosanna Arquette, Craig Roberts, James Corden, Tom Riley, and others.

It looks pretty good.

The description: “Based on John Niven’s best-selling novel, and starring Nicholas Hoult as you’ve never seen him before, Kill Your Friends is a jet-black comedy about a music executive at the height of the Britpop era who will stop at nothing to further his career.”
