Idol Worship: CHVRCHES build up to bliss on soaring new track ‘Clearest Blue’

It’s going to be a fun fall for fans of CHVRCHES, especially here in Boston. Not only is the Scottish electronic-pop trio set to release massively anticipated new album Every Open Eye via Glassnote on September 25, but they’ll also be playing the Boston Calling music festival at City Hall Plaza the following afternoon.

And as we announced this morning, Boston electronic-pop band Telelectrix will be performing a full set as CHVRCHES at our second annual Halloween show, an October 30 party at Great Scott in Allston that also features the Daily Pravda performing the Trainspotting soundtrack and Band Without Hands as Garbage.

That’s enough CHVRCHES to make every day feel like Sunday. And now we have the song to play on repeat through the season: today the band released “Clearest Blue,” the fourth single from Every Open Eye that follows the success of “Get Away,” “Leave a Trace,” and July’s “Never Ending Circles.”

“Clearest Blue” might be the best of the lot; an emotional synth-pop track that builds along with a confident and shimmering vibe similar to Silverchair’s underrated 2007 single “Straight Lines.” The songs shifts into overdrive mid-way through, pouncing forward and offering up some of the best music the Scots have put out so far in their young and impressive career. Check it out below.
