Visual Sensation: Daykamp announces Poster and Photo show this fall at the Sinclair

For decades, people have argued about the sound of the Boson music scene. For the past few years, one thing most have agreed upon is the visual look of it, at least when it comes to show posters and flyers.

That look is the design work of Daykamp Creative and the live photography and media of Daykamp Music, and the duo behind those two unified entities are readying another showcase: The Daykamp Poster and Photo Show, November 25 at the Sinclair in Cambridge. The show doubles as the Sheila Devine’s record release party for The Morbs, and also features sets by Sidewalk Driver and Weakened Friends.

“The main reason we’re doing another Daykamp Poster & Photo Show is purely selfish: It gives us an excuse to put some of our favorite bands on a bill together at an amazing venue,” says Nicole and Johnny Anguish in an email to Vanyaland. “The Sheila Divine, Sidewalk Driver and Weakened Friends at The Sinclair? We’d be there even if we didn’t get to display and sell our work — which is the other reason these shows are so special for us. Our work is primarily viewed online, so having the opportunity to display our posters and photos in a physical format is a nice treat.”

This will be the second The Daykamp Poster and Photo Show since the first party back in 2013, and the lineup features three bands with close affiliations to Daykamp. “The Sheila Divine have long been one of our favorites and I’ve done some poster and merch designs for them recently,” they add, noting that The Morbs album art will be another Daykamp design. “It’s no secret Johnny and I have a crush on Sidewalk Driver. I’ve designed a CD, t-shirt and many posters for them. Johnny has so many Sidewalk Driver photos, he could publish a coffee table book with those alone. Their shows at The Sinclair are something else. Weakened Friends blew us away with their song “Won Yet”. I did some work for Annie’s previous band, The Field Effect. Johnny has taken photos of The Field Effect and Box Tiger before. We’re excited to have some new-band love on the bill.”
