‘The Ballad of Turd Ferguson’ was an actual response last night on Final Jeopardy!

Anytime there’s a music-related category on Jeopardy!, we get excited and shout usually correct answers at our television screens. When Final Jeopardy involves music, we damn near call our parents or live-tweet the whole experience. Last night’s finale involved music — “Oscar Nominated Songs”, to be precise — and was notable not in that we knew the correct response, but in the incredible display shown by contestant Talia Lavin from New Jersey, who was able to name drop Turd Furguson.

And yes, she got Alex Trebek to say it out loud.

The Final Jeopardy! answer: “This song from a 1999 animated film about censorship had a word censored from its Oscar performance.” Talia’s response: “What is the Love Ballad of Turd Furguson.”

Incorrect, but still awesome.

The name references Saturday Night Live’s past Celebrity Jeopardy! sketches involving Norm MacDonald as Burt Reynolds. All that was missing was a big yellow hat.

Talia may have lost, but she won hearts around the country. The correct question, by the way, was “What is ‘Blame Canada’ from South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut“. Maybe Trey Parker and Matt Stone can get started on that one.
