There Is No Cure: Listen to Robert Smith’s ‘remix’ of Ride’s alt-rock classic ‘Vapour Trail’

Reunited shoegaze band RIDE just wrapped up the eastern portion of their North American tour this past weekend, and we all walked home from the Paradise on Saturday humming along to the cello finale of the Oxford crew’s 1990 classic, “Vapour Trail.”

Apparently, we’re not the only ones who have the song fresh on the brain, as today a Robert Smith remix of the tune has surfaced online. It’s bit trippy, heavy on the delay, and with the strings a bit more prominent. However, we can’t say it was worth the trouble for the Cure frontman.

Because when you already have one of the greatest, cleanest, most emotive songs of all time, why ruin it with effects? Even if you need a new angle to hype the 25th anniversary re-issue of Nowhere, which drops November 6. (Note: this “remix” won’t be on the re-issue; this appears to be just a vanity project).

Listen to it below…
