Doc Life: Watch the trailer for the new Blur documentary, ‘New World Towers’

This week is a big one for North American fans of Blur, as the reunited Britpop titans are back on these shores with two massive gigs: October 20 at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles and October 23 at New York’s Madison Square Garden. Last week frontman Damon Albarn weighed in on a variety of topics for Rolling Stone, including a cheeky offer for Donald Trump to guest on “Parklife”, and today another look inside the band’s mind has been revealed through the trailer for upcoming tour documentary, New World Towers: From Hong Kong to Hyde Park and Back.”

The film, which hits select British movie theaters on December 2, takes a look at Blur’s reformation in Hong Kong, a monumental appearance at London’s Hyde Park in front of 60,000 fans, and the recording process of their successful comeback LP, The Magic Whip. It was directed by Sam Wrench, and features a mix of testimonials and concert footage. An international release, we’re told, is also in the works.

Official word: “Featuring stunning live footage alongside intimate moments following the band in the studio, Blur’s new documentary film New World Towers charts the iconic British band’s journey in recent years. From an unexpected break in Hong Kong which sowed the seeds for their first album as a four piece in 16 years, to a glorious home coming show in London’s Hyde Park and, finally, the emotional reunion with their Hong Kong audience, this isn’t just a chance to witness the band at the height of their powers, but also an opportunity to see them at their most raw and candid.”
