Start Your Arguments: Here are the nominees in the 2015 Boston Music Awards

The Boston Music Awards nominations are in — and on first glance, it looks like the year of Ruby Rose Fox. And Speedy Ortiz and Dirty Bangs did quite well, too

The singer was named in five categories, including Artist of the Year, Song Of The Year (“Golden Boy”), Pop Artist of the Year, Singer-Songwriter of the Year, and Female Vocalist of the Year. Speedy Ortiz has four top-category nominations: Artist of the Year, Album/EP of the Year (Foil Deer), Rock/Indie Artist Of The Year, and Song Of The Year (“Raising The Skate”). And Dirty Bangs are up for Song of the Year (“I’m In Love With The Summertime”), Live Artist of the Year, Rock/Indie Artist of the Year, and frontman Evan Kenney for Male Vocalist of the Year.

Check the full list of nominations below, which were compiled by votes tallied from an expanded Nomination Committee. For the third straight year, Vanyaland is nominated for Best Music Blog (good looks, Boston).

Public voting opens today at 2:15 p.m. local time and runs through the next several weeks, culminating in the Boston Music Awards’ two-night stand at the Sinclair in Cambridge on December 9 and 10. “The first night will be half-award ceremony, half-rock and roll show and will be free to nominees,” say the BMAs in a release. “The second night will be a ticketed event headlined by our Hall of Fame inductee and an opening performance by our New Artist of the Year Award winner.”

Performing artists and ticket info will be announced the first week of November, and Tivoli Audio and The Verb Hotel have been named official sponsors.

As for the categories, there are now a total of 29, including two new ones: Best Local Promoter and Best Live Music Photographer.

Start arguing.
