Palma Violets unveil ‘alternative advent calendar’ and new holiday tune

We checked the calendar this morning, and it told us today is December 1. So despite Christmas seemingly early start this year (like, “right after Halloween” early in some parts of New England), we’re not entirely sick of seasonally appropriate holiday jingles. Last week Carly Rae Jepsen delivered the standard cover of Wham!’s “Last Christmas”, and now, just in time for some tree decorating and Bailey’s swigging comes UK rock band Palma Violets with an original yule tide jam, “Last Christmas On Planet Earth.”

It’s jingly and jangly and jolly as fuck.

The track is out digitally and on 7-inch via Rough Trade with an accompanying Rhythm Studio Kids Choir cover of Palma Violets track “All The Garden Birds” as the b-side. To up the holiday game even further, Palma Violets have also unveiled a “special Alternative Advent calendar” via their homepage, which promises “daily reveals of covers, poems and other festive treats from some very well known faces as well as the boys themselves.”

Get festive.
