Canadian music journalist Nardwuar suffers stroke, recovering in Vancouver hospital

Beloved Canadian music journalist and musician Nardwuar the Human Serviette has suffered a stroke, according to online reports.

The 47-year-old, born John Ruskin and known for his quirky, excitable demeanor and incredible ability to connect with his interview subjects and unearth bizarre, random things about them and their interests, fell victim to the stroke while attending Mint Records’ Christmas party this past Saturday.

He was transported to Vancouver General Hospital, and is currently receiving treatment. The news was relayed via his Twitter account this afternoon.

As Fact Magazine notes: “He tweeted a photograph taken inside the taxi that transported him to the hospital. It noted that it was picking up a ‘confused male’ with an ‘altered level of consciousness.'”

An update on Nardwuar’s condition is expected shortly. In the meantime, everyone here at Vanyaland wishes him a speedy recovery.
