Holiday Dance: Setting the #MOOD with Leah V’s Missy Night and other weekend treats

While everyone gets drunk at their office-in-a-bar holiday parties, the year-rounders have stepped up the nightlife game around Boston this weekend. So here’s a quick nightlife roundup with a new monthly party from DJ LeahV, dark art & sound at the KnowNoTruth Gallery, & young stud action at Some Like It Hott in Cambridge.

It’s the best of times & the worst of times, waiting for the New Year to arrive in the midst of contrived holiday cheer. Fortunately, there are a few interesting gatherings occurring this weekend to help pass the time away from family.

KnowNoTruth presents Stranger

First up tonight is the unveiling of KnowNoTruth gallery’s latest exhibition “Stranger” — the early evening event on Newbury street will feature new work from Boston Fashion Award Nominee Karen Jerzyk, Travis Alex, Lustful Doll, and owner Landon Richmond. Musical accompaniment will be provided by DJs AlexXan & Byoosik, recent buzzworthy initiates on the Cambridge nightlife scene with their nights KNTRL & Vault.

Pink Noise at the Milky Way

After you’ve had your fill of surrealism, head on over to the Milky Way lounge in Jamaica Plain for some Pink Noise, a party supporting women in music heralded by DJ Dayglow featuring a guest appearance by Lady DM, a resident at Sleep No More NYC.

#MOOD celebrates Missy Elliott

Saturday is jam packed. There is a new monthly from LEAH V, a New England favourite & a DJ Of The Year nominee of this year’s Boston Music Awards. Her new event #MOOD at The Sinclair aims to change the attitude in the community by bringing together a rotating roster of affiliates throughout varying scenes. The affair will offer up grab bag fashion goodies from Shanae Tandrell & uninhibited tunes on the dancefloor.

The freaky theme for their first event (sponsored by Laced Boston & Booger Money) is Missy Elliott all night, and we wouldn’t want it any other way. You do or you don’t or you will or you won’t cha. *Bonus* Leah will cure your hangover the next day at her Boogie Brunch at Trina’s Starlite Lounge.

Uhuru Afrika at the Milky Way

Also on Saturday, celebrate 7 years of soulful selections from the one and only phenomenon UHURU AFRIKA featuring resident Adam Gibbons who is celebrating his birthday. Not one to miss as this will be the last chance to dance until the cherry blossoms of Spring!

Some Like It Hott at the Lilypad

Finally, it’s going to get steamy in Cambridge with the seasoned Alan Manzi’s curation of young stud DJs at Some Like It Hott. The agenda is hot records & the lads who choose to spin them. Sounds good to us!
