Santagaze: Listen to Dirty Sidewalks’ noisy holiday jam ‘It’s Xmas (and Everyone Is Miserable)’

Is Santagaze a thing yet?

Because while we’re only 11 days from Christmas, we’re a bit Christmas Song’d out: we’ve spun King Diamond’s “No Presents For Christmas” so many times we’re actually doubting whether Santa will show up or not, and have overplayed the standard seasonally appropriate hits from Wham!, The Shins, the Waitresses, and The Ramones each might while decorating the tree and getting buzzed on Bailey’s.

We need a little Christmas misery fit for the sound of the Jesus & Mary Chain, and luckily, Seattle’s Dirty Sidewalks have obliged with “It’s Xmas (and Everyone Is Miserable).” The less-than-jolly track has a nice vintage alt-rock/noise-pop feel to it, and gazes ever so slightly at the stars in hopes of seeing Santa’s sled while burying our sad-ass wish lists under a pile of harmonious fuzz. Listen to it — and download it, stuffers of digital stockings! — via the band’s Soundcloud below.

“Brothers Erik Foster (lead vocals, guitar) and Evan Foster (lead guitar, vocals and also of The Boss Martians) are sharing this Christmas gift with you in anticipation of their first vinyl 7-inch single (coming in January 2016) followed shortly thereafter with their debut full-length (spring) on their own No Count Records,” write people who know. “So consider this holiday tune an introduction to the band that unabashedly takes sonic cues from both The Jesus and Mary Chain, Oasis… and Santa.”

Sign us up, and let the Santagaze flow.
