Ministry of Defense: PJ Harvey announces new album set for spring release

We’re a fortnight away from 2016, and already the early part of the year looks like it’ll be a great one for new music. We’ve already been promised new material from the likes of David Bowie, Suede, Quilt, and Savages, and now we can add a certain PJ Harvey to the mix.

This morning, Polly Jean announced that her latest LP, her ninth and first since 2011’s masterful Let England Shake (which won the Mercury Prize in the UK), will be out sometime in the spring. It’s said to document “a unique artistic journey, which took her to Kosovo, Afghanistan and Washington, D.C. The album was recorded during a month-long, open to the public ‘Recording in Progress’ residency at London arts and cultural center Somerset House. Audiences were given the opportunity to observe Harvey at work with her band and producers in a custom-built studio.”

Harvey also unveiled a 30-second clip of new music, and it sounds excellent. Listen to it below, and hold on tight.
