Wait In The Fire: Listen to the Deep North’s dynamic cover Jeff Buckley’s ‘Grace’

Next year marks the 20th anniversary of the tragic death of Jeff Buckley. Remarkably, his one and only studio album, 1994’s Grace, still sounds as fresh and relevant as it when it was released more than two decades ago, and there are no shortage of tributes to the late musician. That said, we can always use more, especially if they serve to keep Buckley’s genius alive, and this week Boston quartet the Deep North have shared their own take on Grace’s title track.

And amazingly, it’s been sitting in the Deep North vaults all this time.

“A couple weeks ago we released a cover of ‘Oh! You Pretty Things’ in honor of the late, great David Bowie,” the band writes on Facebook. “That spurred us to dig through some other cuts that we have had on the shelf for a while including this cut of Jeff Buckley’s ‘Grace’ we did a few years back.”

The combination of Nick Twohig’s stellar guitar-work and the always on-point vocals of Rebecca Livingston make for quite a dynamic cover. Listen to it below, and download it for the nice price of free via their Bandcamp.
