Watch Beck join surviving members of Nirvana for a classic David Bowie tribute

The Grammys are tonight, but already, the event has a tough act to follow. At Clive Davis’ annual pre-show gala last night in Los Angeles, Beck joined the surviving members of Nirvana — Dave Grohl, Krist Novoselic, and Pat Smear — for a cover of David Bowie’s 1970 classic, “The Man Who Sold The World”. The song, of course, was exposed to a whole new generation of music fans when Nirvana covered it for their 1994 Unplugged in New York album and MTV appearance.

As we await better video from last night’s party, check out fan-filmed footage below.

Tonight at the Grammys, Lady Gaga will perform an “experimental tribute” to Bowie, who will receive a posthumous Lifetime Achievement Award.
