Seeing Loud: Jump off the screen with Gozu’s new video for ‘Nature Boy’

Here’s a new and rather unexpected series: Gozu Fridays.

Nope, it’s not some shitty Asian-themed bottle-service EDM party in the gropey section of the Theatre District, but rather a string of Friday posts dedicated to the highly anticipated new album from Boston riff machine Gozu. Last week, we jump-started the weekend with the teaser clip for the band’s new video for “Nature Boy”, and this afternoon, we’re proud to serve up the full fucking thing.

Directed by Tom Corino, the “Nature Boy” video makes Gozu feel larger than they already sound (no easy task, mate), thanks to the best use of 3D effects since that third Jaws film. The clip strips away the bullshit for a raw, live-performance look-in, giving a good glimpse, visually and sonically, into what we can expect from the new Gozu album, titled Revival and due in June via Ripple Music. We’re told “Nature Boy” is the LP’s opening track, so it’ll only take a few seconds to realize we’re in store for undoubtedly one of the best Boston releases of 2016.

The Gozu record release party for Revival goes down June 3 at the Middle East in Cambridge, the band has a handful of summer dates with the reunited Scissorfight, and will represent at Psycho Las Vegas in August alongside Blue Oyster Cult, Down, Dead Meadow, Sleep and a few dozen others.

Those in the New York City area can check them out tonight when they play Fat Baby. Peep their full run of live dates, the video, and more info on Psycho Las Vegas below. And stay tuned for the next installment of Gozu Fridays.
