Listen to Kiefer Sutherland’s new country song and learn to love it before he plays Allston

We’re less than two months away from Kiefer Sutherland’s tour stop at Brighton Music Hall, and if his a shallow read of his new single is any indication, he has a message for Allston: Make sure there’s enough whiskey.

This morning, the 24 actor released his latest single, “Not Enough Whiskey”, the debut track off his new album set for summer release, Down In A Hole. Listen to it below. His 34-date North American tour kicks off April 14 in Wisconsin, comes to Brighton Music Hall on May 20, and wraps May 28 in Amagansett, New York. Sutherland will also appear at the 51st Academy of Country Music Awards this Sunday, which broadcasts on CBS.

“This record is the closest thing I’ve ever had to a journal or diary,” Sutherland says of the record, where he co-wrote all the songs. “All of these songs are pulled from my own personal experiences. There is something very satisfying about being able to look back on my own life, good times and bad, and express those sentiments in music. As much as I have enjoyed the writing and recording process, I am experiencing great joy now being able to play these songs to a live audience, which was something I hadn’t counted on.”

As for “Not Enough Whiskey”, he tells Rolling Stone Country: “I’ve certainly been there, where something will happen in life, and one, two, three bottles of whiskey are not going to fix it,” Sutherland says. “In the context of the song, those moments are important to realize so you have to find another way to deal with them. I’m sure a lot of people have felt that way.”

Ok, scratch the neighborhood call for whiskey, no need to put Blanchard’s on alert. Carry on.
