Road Gawk: Vundabar announce summer tour, prepare to show Canada what’s good

We were talking to a Boston talent buyer a few weeks ago, and that person commented that Vundabar are poised to become the next big band out of Massachusetts, joining the likes of Speedy Ortiz and Quilt as those who have developed a strong fan base far beyond New England.

The Boston guitar-rock trio will be greeting those fans this spring and summer as they trek across North America for a tour that will also find them greeting the good people of Canada. The tour kicks off May 10 in Philadelphia, and wraps with a string of June shows north of the border. Check out the full dates below, and take note — there are a lot of TBAs on that flyer, so help out a rad band if they are playing your city but have nothing locked in.

Wherever they play, these shows should give Vundabar — who last summer self-relased released stellar LP Gawk and played our Sound Of Our Town 2 party in September — a nice chance to test out some new material. Earlier this month, the band gave a teaser on what to expect on the Gawk follow-up, and, well, color us excited.

“Think the Fall meets Fleetwood meets the Monks meets Journey meets Phil Collins meets Peter Gabriel meets Meat Loaf meets Kingston Trio meets Guthrey meets…” they wrote online, adding (capitalization their own): “BIG HITS WALLOPING HITS RADIO READY HITS”.

Oh god we can’t wait.
