Rumble Interviews: Tacos, new jacks, and bullshit free rock and roll at Once Ballroom

Yesterday marked the official midway point of the 2016 Rock And Roll Rumble, the traditional "Day of Rest" that allegedly began in 1998 when touring British rock band Bevis Frond needed a Wednesday night show at the Middle East, forcing the Cambridge club, the Rumble's home at the time, to break up the preliminary week into two groups of three (Sunday to Tuesday and Thursday to Saturday). Nearly 20 years later, that break is very well received, and it gives us all a chance to catch our breath, recap the first three nights, and prepare for the return of action tonight to Once Ballroom. Tonight's Night 4 lineup features 21st Century Fugitives, Abbie Barrett, I Was Awake, and Johnny Blazes & the Pretty Boys, and you can check out our preview of the evening here.

Recaps for, and video from, the first three Rumble nights can be read here (Night 1), here (Night 2), and here (Night 3), and in case you haven't been following along with Vanyaland on Twitter, below is a compilation of all the on-the-fly interview we've conducted with the participating bands. Some were shot right before a band's set, others after it. Most were conducted in the makeshift media tent in the Once Lounge (our new favorite hangout spot), but Tuesday's Metal Night at Once's upstairs venue forced us to find alternate locations, like the green room and the men's room. (Note: Field Day's interview was scrapped after we had some technical difficulties.)

It's rock and roll. Rumble, style.
