Kristin Kontrol turns up the synth-sax on ‘Show Me’, announces Northeast tour

It took about five seconds for us to fall completely in <3 with Kristin Kontrol, the new electronic-pop project from Dum Dum Girls’ Kristin “Dee Dee” Welchez. March’s debut single “X-Communicate” was a hedonistic synth-pop romp through an underground ’80s nightclub, combining the best elements of modern electro-pop with a style not unlike Berlin’s early-’80s Pleasure Victim era. The track is shaping up to be one of our very favorites of 2016.

Today she is back with the follow-up, a more subdued synth-sax seducer called “Show Me”, and news of her debut album. The record takes its name from the lead single, X-Communicate, was produced by Kurt Feldman (Ice Choir, The Pains of Being Pure at Heart) and Andrew Miller (Dum Dum Girls guitarist), and is out May 27 via Sub Pop.

As if all this wasn’t enough, Kristin Kontrol has added to this goodness with the announcement of five Northeast live dates, anchored by a June 17 show at the Middle East in Cambridge. New England gets additional love on two dates, as well: June 16 at 3S Artspace in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, and June 18 at the Met in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. A June 22 show at Baby’s All Right in Brooklyn closes out the mini-run, but we’re told more dates across the country will be revealed between now and then.
