Happy Wednesdays: Shaun Ryder’s Black Grape announce tour and tease new album

The year 2016 has been a good one. Now it’ll end with Black Grape back in action and on stages across the United Kingdom and Ireland.

The band, formed in the early ’90s by Shaun Ryder and Bez after the Happy Mondays split up, reunited last year for the 20th anniversary of debut album It’s Great When You’re Straight… Yeah. Now the band, which includes Paul “Kermit” Leveridge, has announced a UK tour for later this year and have promised new music, Black Grape’s first bit of tunes since 1997.

“I am loving Black Grape and really enjoying it this time round, more than ever,” says Ryder in a press release, via the NME. “I’m looking forward to doing It’s Great When You’re Straight… Yeah on tour and can’t wait to get stuck into recording a new album.”

Maybe they’ll pounce across the Atlantic for some stateside dates come 2017. We’ll see.
