Rock Fireworks: Snort some stars n’ stripes with Desk’s new record ‘All-American Awesome’

We have yet to approach Memorial Day, and we’re already jonesin’ for Fourth of July weekend. The sun, the waves, and the rampant Americanism all adds up to one of the best days of the year, and now, it appears we have the perfect soundtrack to a day spent grillin’ and chillin’.

It’s called All-American Awesome, it comes from a New England band named Desk, and it’s led by the Freedom-Rock-riffin’ lead single, “Cowboys In Boston”. It’s a nice mix of all your dad’s best records. Listen to it below.

We’re obligated to tell you that Desk are comprised by a bunch of dudes who’ve played in a bunch of other bands around Boston and Providence, but for today, there’s no need to get into all that. In fact, you’ll likely recognize them in the photo up top (hint: one of the dudes was responsible for the Joy Division / Teletubbies mash-up last March).

Since it’s Friday, and we’re TGIFin’ like a motherfucker and clearly ignorin’ all last-letter uses of “g” in this post, we’re just gonna grab a few cold ones, fire up the new record, and count down to those other fireworks up over your dome space. But also take note: The record release party for Desk’s All-American Awesome goes down Saturday night at the Parlour in Providence, with Big Time Kill, Impending Reflections, and SixTenConnector, and the show doubles as a fund-raiser for Hunger Down.
