A few weeks ago while preparing our summer music festival preview, we reached out to Newport Folk Festival for one of those fancy lineup posters, so we can illustrate the 2016 lineup and show everyone that’s playing. But organizers casually told us that one such poster doesn’t really exist, because they were still rolling out the lineup for the sold-out festival, going down July 22 to 24 at its usual home of Fort Adams State Park in Newport, Rhode Island.

They were not messing around.

Over the past few days, Newport Folk has added some huge names, including Patti Smith, Alabama Shakes, Elvis Costello, Ryan Adams, and Graham Nash.

They’ll be joining a stacked lineup that already includes Father John Misty, Norah Jones, Raury, Violent Femmes, Ray Lamontagne, Flight of the Conchords, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes, Middle Brother, Frightened Rabbit, the Staves, Fruit Bats, Lady Lamb, Dan Auerbach’s the Arcs, and many more over what’s shaping up to be an incredible three days of music in the Ocean State.

We’re not even sure they are done. Before tomorrow brings anther legend, check out the full lineup here.
