A few weeks ago at the ManRay reunion at the Paradise Rock Club in Boston, Gene Dante and John Eye performed a cover of Nine Inch Nails’ “Hurt” as images from the underground nightclub’s past flickered on the big screen behind them. It was an appropriate pairing of visual and sound.
Inexplicably, images of Guy Fieri stuffing his face with culinary delight also feels appropriate as we listen to Johnny Cash’s 2002 cover of “Hurt”. We’re sure no one asked for a highlight reel of munchy kitchen scenes from the Food Network to be paired up with Cash’s devastating rendition of the modern Reznor classic, but that’s what YouTuber Mayor Wertz serves up for us today on a viral platter.
Fieri, as it turns out, is such a Pretty Ate Machine.
“I watch a lot of Guy Fieri programs and I thought it would be funny to do a super-cut of it to the saddest song I know,” Wertz says, via Forbes (Forbes!), which covered the video earlier today.
This type of sadness will surely earn us all a one-way ticket to Flavortown, where the only tears are from hot wings and the only misery comes at the bottom of a bucket of crab legs. Give in and watch it below.
