Tony Savarino and the Savtones launch Fort Point residency at Internal Matter

From roles in Ruby Rose Fox, Garvy J., and others, it’s no surprise when we see veteran guitarist Tony Savarino pop up across various stages throughout the Boston rock club circuit. But starting last week, Savarino and his instrumental lounge act, the Savtones, have set up a home base in an unlikely spot — Fort Point restaurant Internal Matter.

The Channel Center Street bistro, complete with beer and wine menu, is now home to the Savtones’ Thursday residency, which continues tonight and is scheduled each week from 8 to 10 p.m. There’s no cover.

When owner Brian Bresnahan opened Internal Matter last year, he approached Savarino about performing. After a few one-off gigs over the past several months, the residency officially kicked off last week.

After doing a gig here and there over there it ended up being a cool hang and the band loves playing there,” Savarino tells Vanyaland, noting that he grew up in the area. “All my family and neighbors can come out and see me play with out going across the river! So Brian and I decided to make it the Savtones homebase.”

For the residency, Savarino will be joined by drummer Chris Anzalone, Seany Mac on bass, and Mike Moss on reeds. Check out some of Savarino’s tunes below, as well as the rad residency flyer after the jump.
