Needs Met: The Meadows Music & Arts Festival in NYC announced, with Kanye, Chance, Weeknd, more

New York City has another big-ticket music festival.

A few weeks after Governors Ball and about a month before Panorama comes word of The Meadows Music & Arts Festival, a two-day bash going down October 1 and 2 at the Citi Field complex in Queens’ Flushing Meadows Corona Park. Citi Field is home to the New York Mets.

The Meadows is from the team behind Governors Ball, and the lineup reflects that. Headliners for the inaugural Meadows include Kanye West, Chance the Rapper, Grimes, the Weeknd, Kygo, the 1975 and Empire of the Sun. The undercard is pretty interesting, as well, with appearances by Chairlift, Miami Horror, Yeasayer, Savages, and Twin Shadow performing Prince’s Purple Rain.

Tickets go on sale Thursday.

“Launching the Meadows Festival in Queens this fall with an incredible lineup of music, art, food and culture is a dream come true,” says Founders Entertainment’s Tom Russell in the press release, via Pitchfork. “As a native New Yorker I grew up in awe of the innovative spirit surrounding Flushing Meadows-Corona Park. With this event we can shine a spotlight once again on this iconic neighborhood and bring with it the economic benefits, strong community partnerships and local hiring for which Founders Entertainment is known.”
