Locals team up to form Not The Good China, pen anti-Trump song ‘The Manchurian Candidate’

On the daily VanyaRadio playlists for local spotlight show This Is 617″, we’ve been pretty sweet lately on two bands in particular, Boston garage punk trio the Knock Ups, and Salem-based shitshow Marianne Toilet And The Runs. The former impressed us at the recent Rock And Roll Rumble, as Gretchen Shae’s band (when she’s not busy rocking out with U2) was a trendy pick to advance. And the latter has crashed our homegrown hours with tracks off their fantastically titled upcoming record, Eargasms For Your Genitals, out July 16 with a release party at Spotlight Tavern in Beverly.

Now, members of both bands have teamed up for a new group, called Not The Good China, and their debut song is an anti-Donald Trump jingle called “The Manchurian Candidate”. On YouTube, it’s labelled in a much more direct fashion, as “An American Song (anti-Trump Song)”.

“I wrote a political song about how bad Donald Trump is,” says frontman Todd Badolato. “It’s pretty fun, I think you’ll like it!”

While we rarely dip into politics here at Vanyaland, we are all about fair play. So after we hyped Scott Isbell’s pro-Trump hit “Trumpified” a while back, we figured we’d even things out this afternoon.

Listen to “The Manchurian Candidate” below, and go build that wall.
