So Long, Farewell: MGMT honor the late Alan Vega of Suicide with cover of ‘Goodbye Darling’

From the moment Henry Rollins broke the news late Saturday night that Suicide co-founder Alan Vega passed away at the age of 78, tributes and memorials to the proto-punk and electronic music pioneer began pouring in. Last night, Connecticut-born indie lads MGMT joined the fray, posting a cover of Vega’s 1983 solo track, “Goodbye Darling.”

“Been working hard all day on a special tribute/tributary to Alan Vega,” the duo tweeted. “Stay tuned…”

Two hours later, their cover hit Soundcloud, with the note: “RIP ALAN VEGA, GOODBYE DARLING”.

Go ahead and listen to it below.
