Future Starmen: Minor League baseball team to honor David Bowie with specialized jerseys

Minor League Baseball is filled with future stars, man. But this Friday, a team in Maryland will be dressed as proper “Heroes”.

The Bowie Baysox, a Baltimore Orioles Double A affiliate that play in the Eastern League, will host a David Bowie Tribute Event on Friday, complete with a Bowie soundtrack, fireworks, and other tributes throughout the night. The team will even change the pronunciation of its Prince George’s County city name, from Boo-ee to Boh-ee, and wear specially designed jerseys that draw from the late icon’s style.

“Proceeds from the jersey auction will benefit Feeding America,” writes MILB.com. “The designs for the multi-colored jerseys were inspired by the many flamboyant outfits that David Bowie was famous for wearing during his performances.”

Check out the jerseys below. And here’s some ticket info, for those inspired enough to take a road trip: “Single game tickets may be purchased in advance online at www.baysox.com or by calling the Baysox Ticket Office at 301-464-4865.”
