Garrett Klahn of Texas Is The Reason announces fall tour with the Surrounding Areas

When Texas Is The Reason frontman Garrett Klahn released his self-titled solo album back in January of this year, via Rise Records, he was quick to point out in press interviews that it wasn’t really a “solo” release after all.

“It’s without a doubt one of the most collaborative things I’ve done since I started making records, there’s almost eight or nine people total playing on the record,” Klahn told Noisey. “Number one, I couldn’t come up a good enough band name, and I’ve done the band in a box thing before. I’ve done it, and I’m not shitting on it either because Christ that’s my entire life. But I wanted to give it a shot with just a little more me involved.”

This attitude will once again hold true this fall, as Klahn has announced a solo tour that’s not really a solo tour. According to BrooklynVegan, Klahn will hit the road with a full-on band, the Surrounding Areas, for 31 dates in October and November, a run that kicks off October 7 in Fullerton, California, and wraps back up in the Golden State with a November 13 gig in Santa Cruz. In the middle of it all is an October 28 date at the Middle East in Cambridge. BV also reports that “a few ‘surprise’ support acts are promised”, as well.
