Vermonster Sound: Listen to the bands and artists playing Burlington’s Grand Point North

Earlier this year we headed up to the great state of Vermont for the Waking Windows music festival in Winooski, a multi-day, multi-venue event that gave us some fresh South-by-Southwest vibes. This weekend, our attention shifts to the Green Mountain State once more for the latest Grand Point North festival, the annual music showcase in Burlington’s Waterfront Park, headed up by Vermont native Grace Potter and her band the Nocturnals.

Where Waking Windows reminded us of SXSW, Grand Point North is more along the lines of Austin City Limits, as it’s held in one central-point location, and the lineup this year is well-worth the scenic trip up Interstate 89.

In addition to Potter, who headlines both nights (September 17 and 18), this weekend features an eclectic mix of styles and sounds from both Vermont and beyond, headed up by Guster, The Record Company, Kaleo, Basia Bulat, and one of our favorite new bands, Western Massachusetts’ And The Kids.

Naturally, there’s a lot more in store that justify the manageable $59 single day pass and $79 weekend ticket (score tickets here). Check out a preview of all the performing bands below, in addition to the set times, and get Hotel Vermont on the horn to see if they have any vacancy (the Eggs Benedict at the hotel’s Juniper bar and restaurant is the best thing we’ve put in our mouths since high school).
