Found In Translation: Listen to Scarlett Johansson cover New Order’s ‘Bizarre Love Triangle’

At the ass-end of 2014 Scarlett Johansson turned the VICE 20th anniversary party on its head with a live cover of New Order’s “Bizarre Love Triangle”. Less than two years later, we have a properly recorded version of her rendition, straight off a new charity compilation to benefit AIDS organization amfAR.

On the fairly faithful cover, which you can hear below, Johansson is backed by her band Sugar For Sugar, which is essentially an extension of her previous band, The Singles, only without Haim’s Este Haim and all those pesky crease-and-desist letters. In addition to Johansson, Sugar For Sugar is rounded out by Holly Miranda, Julia Haltigan, and Kendra Morris.

The compilation album, meanwhile, is titled The Time is Now, and it’s out October 7 via Republic and Mass Appeal Records. It features 14 covers of 1980s classics in all, including Phantogram taking on Phil Collins’ “Take Me Home”, Metric rebooting “Under The Milky Way” by The Church, and Lower Dens assuming Hall & Oates’ “Maneater”. Sounds fantastic all around.

Check out the full The Time is Now track listing after the jump.
