The Pretenders unveil ‘Holy Commotion’ before hitting the road with Stevie Nicks

Just as the Pretenders are set to head out on a fairly extensive North American tour with Stevie Nicks, the legendary band led by Chrissie Hynde have detailed their new album, Alone, and unveiled its first single, “Holy Commotion”.

Alone is out October 21 via BMG, and marks the Pretenders first new album in eight years. The part-animated video for “Holy Commotion”, the album’s first single, was shot in Nashville at collaborator and producer Dan Auerbach’s studio. The album was also recorded in Nashville with The Black Keys multi-instrumentalist, and features Johnny Cash’s former bass player Dave Roe and guitarist Kenny Vaughan, as well as members of Auerbach’s side project The Arcs: drummer Richard Swift, keyboardist Leon Michels, and Russ Pahl on pedal steel.

“This record is what I love the most,” says Hynde in press notes, “real people playing real music.”
